The Big Reveal

So this past week I’ve been putting the finishing touches on my 2026 Calendar and now you’re the first to get to see it!

I always love creating my yearly calendar. There’s something about putting photographs into a collection, that if done thoughtfully leads to the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. I enjoy the entire process, and am really looking forward to sharing it with you.

So without further ado, I present the images from my 2026 Calendar.

I’m completely chuffed with how it’s turned out – definitely my best calendar yet! It’s also my first time including drone images, with the photo of Waterfall Zug, which you helped me choose, and the below photo of Neuschwanstein Castle both featuring.

Over the past year I’ve been focussing on doing a lot more photography with the drone instead of just video and am really liking the results, so expect to see more drone images in the future.

I thought the calendar was pretty much done a couple of weeks ago, but I was so happy with the photos I took on that misty morning recently I just had to squeeze one in, which of course led to a bit of re-arranging.

So then the calendar was done, but I’d forgotten how much time it takes to add it to my website, so that’s what I’ve been doing the last few days. Of course part of the reason it’s taken longer than expected is I gave my home page a bit of a redo at the same time…I just can’t help myself 😄

I’d planned to get back out to the rainforest for the first time in a long time, but unfortunately came down with a cold the day before and wasn’t in any condition for it, so alas there’s no on location video for you this week. I’m going to try to get a studio video out in the next couple of days, so keep an eye out for that, and fingers crossed I’ll be right to get to the rainforest this week instead.

While most of the images from the calendar are from our trip to the Alps last year, two of my favourites are local ones taken this year: the misty tree from a couple of weeks ago that I shared above, and this one below from a lovely afternoon/evening at Hinze Dam. Well, lovely other than my drone almost being taken by an Osprey!

And something else that happened that wasn’t lovely and didn’t make it into the video: when I was taking the photo below it was almost completely dark and a group of plovers landed right near me. For the uninitiated, plovers are birds who lay their eggs in a nest on the ground, which makes them perpetually angry. They have razor-sharp spurs on their wings, and will screech and run and fly at you when they feel so inclined, which is often.

This group of plovers (I think there were 4 of them, but it was so dark I could barely see) started screeching and flying at me in the dark. I yelled and waved my arms around to try to scare them off, but it wasn’t until I turned my head lamp on them that they actually left me alone. Ending up with such a beautiful and serene image certainly made the experience worthwhile.

You can check out all the photos in the calendar on my website. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who buys one, as they’re definitely a bigger help in supporting my work than YouTube.

As you might have noticed, I’ve been a lot more active with videos and newsletters over the last few months. That’s not an accident: I decided to take 3 months off from my day job so I could focus on my photography and videos.

I have so enjoyed putting all my energy and focus into creating videos and newsletters, and would love to be able to do this full-time, but financially at the moment that’s not possible, so I will be heading back to my part-time job very soon.

While I’ll do my best to keep sharing as regularly as I have, I think realistically I won’t be as consistent as I have been over the last couple of months.

So if you enjoy my videos and newsletters and would like to keep seeing them weekly, one of the best ways to support my work and help make that happen is by buying a calendar. I’m planning to cut down the number of days I work as I can afford it, so every calendar helps!
