Creating videos while out photographing can be a challenge, and it can sometimes cause me to not be as focussed (excuse the pun) on my photography as I’d otherwise be. However it can also be a useful tool for me to notice things about my photography that escape me whilst in the field.
I was a very analytical person. It’s probably why I studied Information Technology after leaving school, ultimately becoming a Systems and Database Analyst.
Am I the only one who had the idea as a beginner in landscape photography, that once I learnt “how to take photos” I would regularly create breath-taking images to proudly hang on my wall?
The more time that passes, the more I am convinced of the importance of beauty in our lives. Not only does the appreciation of beauty bring us so much positive – peace, joy, wonder and more – but it helps us to be better people too. Happier people. Kinder people. More thoughtful. More careful and caring.
What better place to start than with the first landscape photo I took that I was really proud of. It was March 2004 and I was travelling around the South Island of New Zealand by myself before flying to the UK for what would end up being an 8 month backpacking holiday while I tried to work out what I would do with the rest of my life.
